Honouring the Woman Beneath the Mother
Jess is a mum of two, a dear friend, and one of the most devoted mothers I know. She pours her heart into her children, her home, her family —,but like so many women, she realised she hadn’t taken time to simply be her.
Not “Mum.” Not caretaker. Not organiser of a million little things. Just the woman beneath it all.
When Jess came to me for a session, it was with the quiet but powerful intention to reconnect with herself.
Afterward, she told me, “Thank you for making me feel beautiful again.” Those words are the heartbeat of my work. Because every woman ( especially those deep in the thick of motherhood , deserves to be seen,) celebrated, and honoured for all that she is.
We went to one of my favourite spots near Thetford , and the day unfolded like pure freedom. We laughed until our sides hurt. We talked about everything , life, motherhood, and all the pieces of ourselves that exist beyond it.
She wore a flower crown I made for her. We swam in a lake. We sank our toes into the earth until they were gloriously muddy. We clambered onto trees —,not exactly gracefully, but in the photos you’d never know.
It wasn’t just a photoshoot. It was an act of honouring. A reminder that you can be a loving, devoted, incredible mum and still give yourself space to breathe, to play, to feel beautiful in your own skin.
Jess walked away empowered, glowing, and deeply connected to herself ,the gorgeous, fun, chilled woman beneath the mother. And she deserved every moment of it.
