raf family- maternity photoshoot in norfolk

I’ve been spending so much time lately at my editing desk that I’m starting to see pixels when I close my eyes. I'm blessed! When the images look like this, the "editor’s eye-strain" is totally worth it.

I recently headed out into The Breks here in Norfolk for a maternity session that reminded me exactly why I started Untamed Muses. I was joined by a beautiful young Mexican couple who are currently counting down the days until they meet their first child: a little princesa to be. Dad is currently serving in the Royal Air Force, and seeing the two of them together, it was impossible not to feel the weight of their story.

Let’s be real for a second: being 30-odd weeks pregnant and having a camera pointed at you isn't always "magical" right off the bat. When we first started, Mama was feeling the third-trimester exhaustion, and she’ll be the first to admit she felt a little awkward in front of the lens.

That is completely normal. The best part of my job is watching that wall come down. It took a little bit of time, some laughs with Val and the quiet atmosphere of the forest, but eventually we were all in the present, just goofying around. Once she relaxed, the energy shifted. We stopped "posing" and started capturing how they actually feel about each other...Head over heels that is!

The imagery? There’s grit, there’s soul, and there is a lot of tangible love. It’s exactly the kind of storytelling I strive for here at Untamed Muses.

Help, I'm awkward!"

5 things to remember]

If the idea of a photoshoot makes you want to hide under your duvet, you aren't alone. Most of the people you see on my website started the session feeling exactly the same way. If you're worried about feeling stiff, here are five things to keep in mind:

I’m a total goofball: Seriously. I’m not here to be a "Director" with a megaphone. I’m more like that friend who happens to have a really nice camera. I’ll probably make a fool of myself to make you laugh, and that’s okay.

It’s a hangout, not a performance: We’re just going for a walk in a beautiful place. I ask questions, I listen to your stories, and I get to know you. The best photos happen in the gaps between the "poses."

Your story matters to me: I genuinely love hearing about how you met or what you’re excited for. When you start talking about your life, you forget to worry about what your hands are doing.

Movement is your friend: If we stand still, we feel stiff. We’ll keep moving, walking, and interacting. It keeps the energy flowing and the "cinematic" vibes high.

Trust the process: Mama in this session felt awkward for the first fifteen minutes, but by the end, she was a total natural. Give yourself permission to be "bad" at it for a few minutes—I promise we’ll find the magic.

This session was a dream to work on, and I’m so proud of these frames. If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in Norfolk who cares more about feeling than perfection, I’d love to chat.

Let’s tell your story together.
