There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you stop looking for the "perfect" spot and simply allow yourself to wander. While scouting for a different project in the Breckland wild, I found myself drawn deep into a pocket of ancient woodland. What I found was a lake of violet, a stretch of bluebells that felt like a hidden secret.
I knew immediately it was the right place for Wayleigh’s first outdoor session.
A few weeks ago, I was with this beautiful RAF family at the Norfolk coast for their maternity session. While we’ve already spent time in their home capturing the proud nods to their military life—the uniform shirts and name tags—this session was about something different.
This was about connection. Not just the connection between a mother, father, and their new daughter, but their connection to the earth beneath them and the spring air around them.
In my photography, I practice the art of being present. In the woods, that means moving slow. It means noticing the way the sunlight filters through the canopy, that overhead layer of branches and leaves that acts as nature's own softbox, diffusing the light into something painterly and gentle.
As we sat among the bluebells, the world felt alive:
The heavy, sweet perfume of thousands of bluebells catching the breeze.
The contrast of soft knitted wool against the delicate petals.
The neighbours! While they were far too quick for my lens, the local squirrels and tiny muntjac deer moved around us, eventually accepting our quiet presence in their home.
As the seasons change, these fleeting moments pass by so quickly. Whether you are welcoming a new addition to your family or simply want to pause time and capture the deep connection you share, I would love to help you tell your story.
P.S. To celebrate the journey from anticipation to arrival, we offer a special collective package when you book your maternity and newborn sessions together. And to our military families—please let us know when you reach out so we can include a special thank you bonus just for you.
